Vintage Indian Brass Ram Padlock with Original Key

A fascinating vintage figural brass padlock crafted in the form of a ram or sheep, complete with its original decorative key. More than a functional object, this is a beautifully sculptural example of traditional Indian decorative metalwork, combining an everyday locking mechanism with an elaborate animal form.

The body of the lock is cast as a recumbent ram, with a carefully modeled head, curled horn, legs and tail. The surface is richly decorated with incised geometric and linear patterns resembling ornamental textiles or ceremonial coverings, giving the piece an especially distinctive character. The darkened brass surface and naturally developed patina beautifully emphasize the engraved details.
