A remarkable pair of vintage English wooden shoemaker’s lasts, originally made for the footwear industry and later thoughtfully repurposed as sculptural wall hooks.

One retains the original Miller Last Co., Northampton maker’s stamp, connecting the pair to the rich history of England’s renowned Northamptonshire footwear industry. The O. A. Miller Last Co. established its Northampton factory on Arthur Street in 1896, producing the wooden forms used by shoemakers to shape footwear during construction. The company remained part of Northampton’s shoemaking industry for decades before merging with Mobbs & Lewis in 1964 to form Mobbs Miller.

Each last retains its beautifully aged wood, original metal plates, mechanical components, factory numbers and authentic working wear. Curved black metal hooks were later added at the toe, giving these industrial pieces a new function while preserving their original character.

Beautiful displayed individually or as a pair in an entryway, dressing room or bedroom for hanging bags, hats, scarves or other accessories. The scratches, markings, patina and variations in the wood are part of their working history and make each piece completely unique.

Sold as a pair and presented in beautiful vintage condition with substantial age-related wear consistent with their original industrial use.
