Vintage Peerage England “Esmeralda” Brass Toasting Fork

A wonderfully decorative vintage English brass toasting fork, featuring the figural Esmeralda crinoline lady finial. The long twisted stem terminates in an ornate three-prong fork with pierced scrollwork, while the upper finial depicts Esmeralda in an elaborate tiered dress, holding a fan within a circular surround.

Originally designed as a fireside toasting fork for use at an open hearth, pieces such as this have become charming examples of traditional English fireplace and hearthware. The unusually long proportions, twisted brass shaft and detailed figural casting make it equally appealing today as a decorative object displayed beside a fireplace or incorporated into a collection of vintage brass.

The fork is marked England, while the reverse of the finial bears the registered-design style numbers R 754726 / 17006. The name ESMERALDA is cast directly beneath the figure.

The brass retains a beautiful naturally aged finish with areas of darker patina, oxidation, scratches and surface wear consistent with vintage use. It has not been polished to a high shine, preserving its collected character.
