Danish Teak MCM Scandinavian Modern Two-Piece China Hutch Buffet

An impressive vintage Danish Modern teak display cabinet, circa 1970s, attributed to Dyrlund of Denmark. Beautifully proportioned and exceptionally substantial, the cabinet combines the warmth of richly grained teak with the clean architectural lines and understated detailing associated with Scandinavian Modern design.

The cabinet is constructed in two sections, with an upper glazed display vitrine resting above a generously sized storage sideboard. The upper section features three large glass-front doors opening to glass shelving, providing an elegant setting for displaying glassware, ceramics, barware, books or decorative objects. Integrated interior lighting illuminates the display beautifully, and all lights have been tested and are in working condition.

The lower section offers considerable concealed storage behind three large cabinet doors, complemented by three drawers positioned directly above. Integrated recessed pulls maintain the clean, uninterrupted appearance of the façade, while the softly rounded corners and continuous wood trim give the substantial cabinet a refined and sculptural quality.

Particularly beautiful is the warm, finely figured wood grain carried across the broad cabinet fronts. The restrained hardware-free appearance, rounded perimeter detailing and carefully balanced proportions create a sophisticated piece that feels equally appropriate in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian or contemporary interior.

The cabinet is unlabelled; therefore, the attribution to Dyrlund is based on its strong similarity in design, construction and proportions to attributed and documented Danish Modern examples. The attribution is presented as such and the maker cannot be definitively confirmed.

A highly functional statement piece suitable for use as a china cabinet, dining room storage cabinet, bar cabinet, vitrine or living room display cabinet.

The integrated interior lighting is fully functional. The cabinet retains its glass shelving; one glass shelf is missing. Presented in good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of wear consistent with its age and previous use. Please refer to photographs for additional condition details.
